Chair Tap Dance Instructor?
Hi, I’m Dottie!
Â
I’m a wife, mom, and grandma, and I’ve dedicated 40 years of my life to teaching dance. Throughout my extensive career, I’ve had the incredible privilege of working with people of all ages, but there’s something truly special about introducing Chair Tap Dance to older adults.
A few years ago, my cardiologist husband told me about all the studies coming out about the benefits of dance for older adults. One of them, a 21-year study by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, showed that learning dance steps is one of the best cognitive exercises out there, and can even help prevent dementia--up to 76% more than any other type of exercise!Â
But, of course, taking traditional dance classes is not an option for many seniors for a variety of reasons--that's where Chair Tap Dance comes in! You're still getting all the cognitive advantages because your brain is learning the steps and choreography, and trust me, you will feel your body working physically!Â
I have witnessed firsthand how this accessible form of dance not only boosts confidence and brings joy, but also promotes better health, coordination, strength, and mental well-being. It’s amazing to see how a simple tap routine can light up a room!
Now, I’m on a heartfelt mission to share all that Chair Tap Dance has to offer with as many people as possible. Whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned dancer, or just looking for a creative way to stay active, I invite you to join me on this exciting journey.
Together, we’ll have a blast, exercise your brain and body, and get in Tip TAP Shape together!
